Injury Crash North of Newton, Another One in Effingham

One person was injured when three vehicles collided north of Newton Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred just before 9am on Illinois 130 on the Burl Ives Bridge. Vehicles driven by 31-year-old Tara Mills of Newton and 48-year-old Carol McGillivray of Champaign were stopped for construction work when a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Angela Shelly of Willow Hill rear-ended the Mills vehicle, pushing it into the rear of the MGillivray vehicle.

Mills was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment. Shelly was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

An injury crash occurred shortly before 2pm Tuesday at 3rd and Washington in Effingham.

City police reported a vehicle driven by 69-year-old John J. Miller of Effingham sideswiped a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Elixa Enriquez Gabriel of Effingham.

Enriquez Gabriel was injured, but refused treatment. Miller was cited for failure to yield.
