Effingham Unit 40 school board members Thursday acted on several personnel matters.
The Board hired Lori West as a three-hour cook at the junior high school, hired Ed Minor as a maintenance man for the district, and hired Beth Mines as a cafeteria monitor at the Early Learning Center.
Board members also approved leaves for David Worman, Natalie Brummer and Michelle Morrissey.
Superintendent Mark Doan also mentioned a proposal from the Effingham Sportsbackers for a sports building in the athletic complex past the football field at Effingham High School. The building has been proposed in the past as a space for batting cages and related indoor practice facilities. The Sportsbackers have indicated they will help with the cost of such a facility.
Doan raised the matter to gauge whether the Board is interested in discussing the idea. The matter could be revisited at the Board's regular monthly meeting later in December.
