Two Teens Injured in Crash in South Part of County

Two teenagers were injured in a single-vehicle crash in the south part of Effingham County.

The crash happened at 8:30pm Wednesday on US 45, near Wilson Livestock in Union Township. Effingham County Sheriff's Department reported a car driven by 18-year-old Richard Wente of Teutopolis slid on an ice-covered bridge. The vehicle skidded off the highway, overturned down a hill, and stopped in some trees.

Richard Wente and his passenger, 14-year-old Ben Wente of Teutopolis, were both injured and were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

No citations were issued.
