Ramsey Man Killed in Sunday Morning Crash

A Ramsey man was killed in a crash early Sunday morning in Shelby County.

State Police say the crash happened at about 1 am Sunday morning, when a vehicle driven by Chase A. Van Uytven, 36 of Ramsey, was westbound on County Road 300 North at Oak Street. Uytven's vehicle partially left the road on the north side, returned to the road, then ran off the roadway to the south side. The vehicle overturned, coming to rest on its top in the ditch.

Van Uytven was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police report Van Uytven was not wearing a seat belt. Illinois State Police District 10 and the Shelby County Coroner's Office are investigating the crash.
