An area woman was injured in a crash in Shelby County around 10:00 Monday morning.

Illinois State Police report a car driven by 26-year-old Angel Arnone of Stewardson was headed south on Illinois Route 32 at Shelby County Road 600 North near Stewardson-Strasburg schools. Police say for unknown reasons, the car swerved right, and then back left into the northbound lane of the highway. When the car crossed the centerline, it was struck by a van driven by 25-year-old Nicholas Holland of Mason. The impact pushed the Arnone car across the southbound lane of the highway and into a ditch. The Holland van ended up off onto the shoulder of the highway.

Arnone was taken with injuries to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, and then was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana. Police report Holland was not injured.

State police say Arnone is listed in stable, but critical condition.
