Two Xenia residents were injured in a crash in Clay County Monday over the noon hour.

Illinois State Police say a vehicle driven by 83-year-old Francis King of Xenia stopped on US 45 at the intersection with US 50 outside Flora, then proceeded into the intersection and began to turn left onto US 50. Police say King failed to yield to a semi on US 50 driven by 60-year-old David Guthrie of Mt. Vernon. The semi struck King's vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and strike a tree.

King and his passenger, 86-year-old Nancy King of Xenia, were injured and were taken to Clay County Hospital in Flora for treatment.

King was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.
