Stewardson-Strasburg school board members Wednesday discussed financial matters.

The Board agreed to seek a 6.2% increase in the fiscal year tax levy. The levy only sets, though, what might be raised, not what will be raised.

Board members also heard that the cost of commercial insurance is down 6.41% from last year. The Board also agreed to submission of health/life safety amendments concerning sanitary piping replacement and sewage plant repairs or replacement.

While improvements to the sewer plant is being considered, the Board also continues discussions with the Village of Strasburg to tap into the village's sewer system.

Superintendent Michelle Lindenmeyer reported that a lobby restroom renovation project and the HVAC replacement projects are very closer to completion.

The Board agreed to seek a temporary aide through the end of the school year due to the retirement of Ruth Anderson, and approved $1,830 in compensation for the district treasurer Michelle Spannagel.
