Pedestrian Struck by Train in Effingham

A local woman was injured when struck by a train early Tuesday morning.

Effingham city police say 37-year-old Lea Ann Miller of Effingham was observed near the intersection of the CN and CSX rail lines east of Maple Street at 2:18am and subsequently was struck by an Illinois Central train.

Miller was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Effingham city police investigators and investigators from Illinois Central looked into the incident. No citations were issued.
