The Effingham County 911 Board Tuesday passed a budget for the new fiscal year.

Officials cut things pretty fine; the budget calls for $913 more in income than outgo.

Also, 911 System Administrator Jodi Moomaw reported that telecommunicators are working 100% on the new dispatching consoles. Moomaw said there are some issues still being worked out, particularly volume levels for the various law enforcement personnel.

Moomaw said the phone system has been renewed for another year, and said there are pieces of legislation pending that could free up local funds that the State has withheld due to the ongoing budget impasse. That situation could change, as Governor Bruce Rauner this week has indicated a willingness to see those funds released to local governments in hopes of breaking the budget logjam in Springfield.
