Injury Crash Friday at 3rd and Rickelman

Two vehicles collided north of 3rd and Rickelman in Effingham Friday afternoon, injuring one of the drivers.

The crash happened just after 5pm. Effingham city police report a vehicle driven by 56-year-old Daniel Koontz of Effingham pulled into the path of, and was struck by, a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Sarah Matusas of Neoga. Koontz's vehicle then struck and damaged a mailbox owned by Pilot Truck Stop.

Koontz was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Koontz was cited for failure to yield.
