Mt. Vernon Resident Injured in Effingham County Crash

A Mt. Vernon resident was injured in a two-vehicle crash on the Altamont Blacktop, two miles north of Farina Sunday morning.

Illinois State Police report a SUV driven by 29-year-old Melinda Sue Lotz of St. Peter failed to yield at a stop intersection at Fayette County Road 900 North. Lotz reportedly pulled in front of a car driven by 31-year-old Tarus Morning of Mt. Vernon. The Morning vehicle overturned following the collision.

Morning was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment of injuries. Lotz was not injured in the crash.

Lotz was cited for failure to yield. Morning was cited for not wearing a seat belt.

The crash occurred just after 7:30am Sunday.
