IHA Honors Advocacy Leaders at Annual Summit

Illinois health care leaders were honored for their advocacy efforts at the 2012 Illinois Hospital Association Leadership Summit in Lombard earlier this month.
Tim Eckels, who serves as Vice-President of Community Benefit for Public Policy and Advocacy for Hospital Sisters Health Systems was recognized as the AHA/IHA 2012 Grassroots Champion for his "exceptional leadership in generating grassroots and community activity in support of a hospital's mission. Eckels is charged with handling the Health Systems' public policy and advocacy efforts in Washington as well as in Springfield, Illinois and Madison, Wisconsin, the states where Hospital Sisters operates hospitals.
Dan Woods, former President and CEO of St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, was recognized with the AHA/IHA Most Valuable Political Action Committee Player Award. The award is given to "individuals who understand the value of a robust PAC by taking a leadership role to develop a strong PAC base in their organizations, working to strengthen their relationship with legislators", according to a statement from the IHA.
