Plans are in place for Sunday's Effingham Sunrise Rotary Halloween Parade. The 2015 parade theme is "Going for the Win" and will begin at 2pm. The event is annually the largest-attended parade in Effingham.

There are some guidelines for both those in the parade and those watching the procession:

Candy should be handed to or tossed at the feet of parade watchers.

The route of the parade is the same as in past years; south on Maple Street from Temple to Jefferson Avenues, and then east on Jefferson into the downtown area, disbanding at Second Street. That is where children participating in the parade should be picked up.

Awards will be presented on the lawn of the old Courthouse near the gazebo.

When arriving at the parade, please enter the route from Evergreen Avenue, turning south onto Maple Street. Please drive slowly. Your entry number parking space will be posted on the west side of the road. Please be there at 1pm to be judged.

For safety reasons, no vehicles will be allowed in the staging area except those of residents who live along the staging area and those vehicles that are part of the parade. All participants including children who plan to ride or walk in the parade as part of an entry must walk into the staging area accompanied by an adult. Please have participants including children in place by 1:30pm.

Bands are asked to please enter Temple Avenue from Keller Drive and unload at the Medical Center. A Rotarian will be there to assist you.
