A proposed Effingham Regional Career Academy was discussed at the Effingham Noon Rotary Club meeting on October 14.

The facility is proposed next to the Effingham Lake Land College Kluthe Center, and is designed to provide a venue for vocational instruction for both high school students and adults in the local workforce. The project, which is awaiting state funding, would take about 34 months to complete.

Lake Land College President Josh Bullock and Effingham Unit 40 Superintendent Mark Doan spoke on behalf of the proposed facility, which would offer instruction to equip workers to fill local job vacancies, and more attractive to prospective industries considering a move to Effingham.

Taylor Crowell, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jeff Crowell, was the Rotary weekly student guest. She is a senior at Effingham High School.
