A tractor and a motorcycle were involved in a crash Sunday in Jasper County.

State police report the crash occurred on Illinois Route 130, three miles north of Newton. Police say a motorcycle operated by 38-year-old Robert K. Lewis of Toledo and a tractor pulling a mower operated by 42-year-old James Judson of Hidalgo were headed south. Judson slowed to make a left turn onto 1500th Avenue, as did an uninvolved vehicle following Judson. Lewis attempted to pass the uninvolved vehicle as well as Judson. When he noticed the vehicles were turning, Lewis laid the cycle down on its side to avoid a collision. The cycle slid down the highway and underneath the mower hitch.

Both Lewis and his passenger, 37-year-old Kendra Meyers of Toledo, were thrown from the cycle. They were both injured and were airlifted from the scene.

Police cited Lewis for failure to yield at an interection and improper passing at an intersection. The crash happened just before noon Sunday.
