House Fire Wednesday in Effingham

Fire damaged a home at Linden and Shelby in Effingham Wednesday afternoon.

Effingham firefighters were called out shortly after 5pm to the home where Nathan Westergard lives with his daughter, Kiara. Neither was home at the time of the fire. The family cat got out unharmed.

No word on the cause of the fire, which did considerable damage to the interior, although much of the exterior remained intact. Teutopolis firefighters were called to assist.

Firefighters were on scene for close to two hours.
