The Inclusion and Diversity Education Task Force (IDETF) of Lake Land College has arranged to have Dr. James Loewen visit the college this week and speak regarding his book "Sundown Towns: A Hidden Dimension of American Racism".

Dr. Loewen, born and raised in Decatur and with a PhD in Sociology from Harvard, is best known for his book, "Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong". In this presentation, Loewen will talk about sundown towns, places where African-Americans and other minority groups weren’t allowed to be in after dark. You might be surprised at the local towns on the list.

The event will be held in the Lake Land College theater at 7pm on Thursday, October 8, and is free and open to the public.
