Teutopolis Fire Department was called out Monday night due to a report of a possible structure fire at 3Z Printing on Main Street in Teutopolis.

Teutopolis Fire Chief Tim McMahon said the call came at 9:13pm from an employee on scene. The employee reported a large fire right off the highway near the main office. Crews arriving on scene found a dumpster on fire on the north side of the office building. McMahon said the first arriving engine company got a "quick knock down" that kept the fire confined to the dumpster.

McMahon said there was a light haze of smoke in the building, but nothing was damaged. Fire crews used exhaust fans to ventilate the building of smoke.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but apparently an "unknown hot item" made its way into the dumpster causing the materials inside to ignite.

Firefighters, who were assisted by the Effingham County Sheriff's Department, cleared the scene at 10pm.
