A post on Facebook concerning the Evergreen Avenue railroad crossing prompted a phone call to Effingham City Hall Thursday.

Several Facebookers weighed in on the need for improvements to the crossing on the city's north end. We phoned City Engineer Jeremy Heuerman as to when work might be scheduled on the crossing.

Heuerman said he's had no word as to when the repairs might be made. When the Rickelman Avenue crossing was repaired this summer, Heuerman said he'd been led to believe crews would work their way south, but that is yet to happen.

City officials try to stay in touch with both Canadian National and CSX Railroad as to problem crossings, such as the one on Evergreen and the crossing on Willow Street. CN handles the Evergreen crossing, CSX the Willow crossing.
