Injury Crash at Fayette and Walnut Friday

Details are available on a Friday morning crash at Fayette and Walnut in Effingham.

City police say a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Lucas Edwards of Beecher City pulled in front of, and was struck by, a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Deborah Benavides of Watson.

Benavides was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Edwards was cited for failure to yield and operating an uinsured motor vehicle.

The crash happened at 11:20am.

City police are also investigating the theft of three sets of dealer license plates. The plates were taken from vehicles parked at Ewida Auto Sales at 600 West Wabash between Sunday, September 20, and 12:25pm Friday.
