A Charleston man, 42-year-old Arnett Deshaun Brown, has been indicted by a Federal grand jury on charges of possession of heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of firearms by a felon.

The indictment was returned by the grand jury early this month, but remained sealed pending Brown's court appearance.

The charges are the result of an investigation by the FBI, the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the East Central Illinois Task Force.

The indictment alleges Brown possessed the drugs with intent to distribute on June 11, 2014, and heroin and marijuana with intent to distribute in February of this year. Brown is also charged with possessing 11 firearms, including handguns and two rifles, in February of this year, and also faces a charge of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.

Brown could face up to 30 years in prison if he is convicted. His trial is scheduled to begin November 24.
