Minnesota Man Injured in Crash South of Effingham

A Minnesota man was injured in a crash involving a semi south of Effingham late Wednesday night.

Illinois State Police report 24-year-old Ali Abshir Aden of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, was northbound when he lost control of his rig. The unit ran off the roadway and overturned in the median.

Aden's passenger, 32-year-old Abdullahi Hassan Aden of Burnsville, Minnesota, was injured and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

The crash occurred at 11:04pm on I-57 near the Watson-Mason interchange. Ali Aden was cited for improper lane usage. Watson firefighters assisted state police at the scene.
