No injuries resulted from a crash where a driver was traveling the wrong way on Illinois Routes 32/33 northwest of Effingham.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department was contacted by 911 after a caller said a driver was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of the highway at Nazarene Road. The vehicle, driven by 77-year-old George L. Bauer of Effingham, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck the ditch embankment at the intersection.

Bauer was not injured in the crash, but was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for an unknown medical condition that authorities believe contributed to the incident.

The incident occurred at 2:51pm Tuesday. Bauer was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash and driving in the wrong lane.
