Mislich Pleads Guilty

Former Altamont resident Stephen Mislich Monday pleaded guilty to a series of federal counts related to extorting nude photos of teenage girls.

Mislich pleaded guilty to a count of identity theft for hacking into a Facebook account of a 17-year-old girl who was then a senior at Altamont Community High School. He also pleaded guilty to five counts of extortion for his efforts to get other girls to send him nude photos of themselves. He also pleaded guilty to counts of producing child pornography and distribution of child pornography. The child pornography counts relate to one of Mislich's victims being 16 years old at the time.

The identity theft count is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The extortion counts are each punishable by up to two years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine. The producing child pornography count is punishable by up to 15 to 30 years in prison. The distribution of child pornography count is punishable by up to five to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

A sentencing date is set for December 29.

The incidents began in May of 2011.

Mislich remains in custody.
