The annual inspection of Effingham County Jail found no deficiencies.

State statute requires the Illinois Department of Corrections to inspect each county jail annually. Effingham County Sheriff Dave Mahon said state officials inspected the detention facility on August 25 and that no deficiencies were found.

Mahon said he is "very proud of the job Jail Administrator Marnie Raber and her staff have done." He added, "the men and women who comprise the Effingham County Correctional Unit run one of the most professional Detention Facilities with whom I've had the opportunity to work."

The sheriff said a copy of the jail inspection is available for public review at the sheriff's office and at the Effingham County Clerk's Office.
