The attorney for former Altamont resident Stephen Mislich is asking to be reclassified as Mislich's court-appointed counsel.

Daniel Juengel has represented Mislich for a year, but Juengel indicated in a court filing that Mislich and his family had asked him to withdraw from the case. The Court denied the motion. Juengel, in a motion filed Wednesday, said Mislich doesn't have the funds to pay him, so asked that the Court appoint him and finance his work on Mislich's behalf.

Mislich, who is slated to go on trial on September 28, is being held in White County Jail. He is charged with a count of identity theft, five counts of extortion, three counts of harassment, two counts of producing child pornography, and a count of distributing child pornography.

Mislich is accused of hacking into online accounts for nude photos that allegedly led to attempts to harass and extort those who posted the photos into providing additional photos.
