Shimkus to Seek Re-Election

Local Congressman John Shimkus has announced he's seeking re-election in 2016.

In announcing his re-election bid, Shimkus reaffirmed his support for the pro-life movement, Second Amendment rights, and local natural resources such as coal and oil.

Shimkus and his wife Karen have been married since 1987. They live in his hometown of Collinsville and have three sons. He is a graduate of the US Military Academy and SIUE.

Shimkus, a Republican, has served in Congress since 1997.
