Missouri Driver Injured in Crash in Construction Zone

A Missouri man was injured while working in the construction zone on Effingham's north side Thursday morning.

State police report 70-year-old Gary Edison Bishop from St. Peter's, Missouri was backing a water truck on the dirt inside the construction area of I-57 northbound near near Milepost 163. Bishop backed the truck off the smooth surface and into a ditch, where the truck overturned. Bishop was injured in the incident, which occurred at 10:33am, and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.
