Rotary District #6490 Governor Surinder Sethi paid his official visit Wednesday to the Effingham Noon Rotary Club.

Sethi, from Bloomington, oversees the district that stretches from Metamora in the northwest to Robinson in the southeast. He operates his own consulting engineering firm.

Sethi praised the work done by the Noon Club, both locally and globally, and encouraged the membership to utilize grant funds available at both the district and international level to continue the battle against polio, illiteracy and a lack of pure drinking water among other causes.

Governor Sethi was awarded two children's books that were donated in his honor to the Effingham Public Library. The governor autographed both books.

The Rotary weekly student guest was Reed Schafer, the son of Jeff and Sheri Schafer and a senior at Effingham High School.
