A local teenager was injured in a crash involving a deer Monday night southwest of Effingham.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports 17-year-old Kameron Myers of Effingham was traveling on 1175th Street, about a half-mile south of 1050th Avenue in Watson Township, at 8:22pm. Reports state that a deer ran in front of Myers' vehicle, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, which ran off the road and struck a barrier cable.

Myers was taken for treatment to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Myers was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
