Effingham County Jobless Rate for July Up Slightly from Month Earlier, Below One Year Earlier

Effingham County's unemployment rate for July was 4.4%.

The rate is slightly up from the June rate of 4.2%, but it's well below the July 2014 rate of 5.5%.

As far as area counties:

Clay County's July rate was 6.6%, up from 6.1% in June, but down from 8.1% in July 2014

Cumberland County's rate was 4.9%, up from 4.7% in June, but down from 6.0% in July 2014

Fayette County's July rate was 5.6%, the same as the June rate, but down from 7.6% in July 2014

Jasper County's July rate was 5.4%, up from 5.2% in June, but down from 6.4% in July 2014

Shelby County's July rate was 5.8%, up from 5.4% in June, but down from 6.7% in July 2014

The Illinois unemployment rate for July was 5.9%, the same rate as in June, but down from 7.3% in July 2014.

The national unemployment rate for July was 5.6%, slightly up from 5.5% in June, but down from 6.5% in July 2014.
