Effingham resident Richard Rodgers, Jr. was in Macon County Circuit Court Wednesday morning in his aggravated DUI involving a fatal crash case.

The 32-year-old Rodgers is also charged with aggravated DUI drugs and with traffic offenses. The counts stem from an August 6 crash near Macon that resulted in the death of 34-year-old Justin Baker of Shelbyville. The crash also injured a four-year-old boy riding with Baker.

Rodgers pled not guilty and waived a preliminary hearing. He is next due in court on October 19 for a pre-trial hearing.

Rodgers is being held on $1 million bond.
