Teutopolis village board members Wednesday voted to move ahead with a resurfacing project on Elm Street.

Effingham Asphalt was awarded a bid for $192,291.50 to provide an asphalt overlay of Elm from Pearl to Smith Streets. It's hoped the work will be completed by the end of September.

The Board also hired two appraisers and a negotiator for the extension of West Water Street. This is the "missing mile" project that has been discussed for years that would connect a westerly extension of Water Street to an easterly extension of Evergreen Avenue from Effingham. The property appraisal and negotiating work is Phase 2 of the long-discussed project.

The village board also tabled action on the replacement of a 2005 police car, but paid the Mediacom cable TV franchise fee.
