A local man has been arrested on counts of cannabis production and possession.

56-year-old Todd Kingery was arrested Thursday afternoon after a search warrant was executed at his rural Edgewood residence. Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said the Southeast Illinois Drug Task Force obtained information that led task force members to obtain a search warrant for Kingery's property. After the search warrant was served, officers searched an area next to an outbuilding on the property and located 19 cannabis plants along with approximately two pounds, or 900 grams, of processed cannabis in ziplock bags. Kibler said some of the plants were yet to be harvested when located.

Kingery is charged with production of the cannabis plants as well as production of cannabis. In court Friday morning, Judge Kimberly Koester set Kingery's bond at $20,000 and scheduled his next court appearance for September 1.
