Effingham Mayor Jeff Bloemker recently presented a check from the City of Effingham for $25,000 to Jean Bohnhoff, Executive Director at Senior Services of Effingham County.

Mayor Bloemker commented:  “The Silver Tsunami is coming.  As the Baby Boomers enter retirement the issues around servicing the aging population will move to the front burner very quickly and broadly. As the mayor of Effingham, I have been asked to lead the dialogue on how we model and tweak the city to deal with transportation, infrastructure, and services that support the senior lifestyle. The Senior Center and the Effingham City/County Committee on Aging have provided bedrock services to the senior population for over 40 years.  They are the experts and we will look to them for advice in this arena.  We see this donation not only as a show of confidence in their current services, but also as an investment in their future counsel.”
