North Clay school board members Wednesday acted on several personnel matters in hopes of getting staff in place for the coming school year.

The Board accepted the resignation of elementary teachers Rachel Thompson and Leigh Williams, but hired Avery Peters and Sarah Schabbing as elementary teachers. Mayana Blair was hired as a paraprofessional, and the administration was given the authority to hire personnel as needed for the upcoming school year dependent upon funds available.

Board members hired Steve Stortzum as a custodian, accepted the resignation of Dennis Arnold as high school assistant basketball coach, approved a maternity leave beginning in November for Jackie Akers, and hired Mary Ann Brown as substitute custodian and cook.

The Board hired Jason Lewis as junior high assistant baseball coach, approved the salary schedule for non-certified personnel that was last proposed from the July board meeting, hired Felicia Irmen and Courtney Stanfield as volunteer co-sponsors for the dance team, and hired Rachel Thompson as a substitute secretary.

North Clay Superintendent Monty Aldrich asked that the Board consider constructing a concrete pad for washing buses when they hold their regular monthly meeting next week, and three board members suggested items for consideration; reinstatement of athletic transportation, homeschooled students and participation in extra-curriculars, and a prepared statement in appreciation of efforts for new lockers and bleachers at 20% of new costs.
