The trustees are in place for the expanded Education Service Region that includes Effingham County.

The Illinois General Assembly voted in 2012 to reduce the number of regional school superintendents in Illinois. As part of the process, Christian and Montgomery counties have consolidated with Effingham, Bond and Fayette counties into a new five-county service region.

All sitting members of both boards had their terms extended until August 3, at which time a meeting was held to reorganize. Under state guidelines, seven individuals were chosen by lot to represent the five counties on the new board. The new board includes Eugene Logue from Effingham County and J.D. Vieregge from Fayette County. Abby Bayles of Fayette County was chosen as an at-large member. Other members are Don Farrimond of Christian County as an at-large member, Jimmie Rice from Bond County, Don Scott from Christian County, and Donna Yeske from Montgomery County. Jimmie Rice was elected to serve as board chairman.

The Regional Board of School Trustees hears petitions for annexation, detachments and changes in school district boundaries.

The new members will serve until the general election in April 2017.
