City Police Investigating Vehicle Theft, Crash w/Injuries

Police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle owned by a Dieterich man.

Effingham city police say the vehicle, a 1998 white GMC Sierra, is owned by Brett Walker of Dieterich. The vehicle was stolen while parked at 400 West Wabash between 10am Thursday and 12:50pm Monday. The vehicle is valued at $2,700.

A Teutopolis woman was injured in a crash at Fayette and 3rd in Effingham Monday afternoon.

Police say the crash occurred at 1:36pm when a vehicle driven by 90-year-old Mary Hoelscher of Teutopolis turned in front of, and was struck by, a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Kevin Brooks of Altamont. Hoelscher was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Police cited Hoelscher for failure to yield.
