Cover Crop Meeting Planned

The Effingham County and Fayette County Soil and Water Conservation Districts are holding a Cover Crop for Beginners Meeting on Monday, August 17 starting at 9am at the Carriage House Event Center in Altamont.

With all the prevented planting acres in the area, this year provides an opportunity to give cover crops a try. The Illinois Nutrient Reduction Strategy recommends cover crops as a voluntary way to reduce the amount of phosphorus reaching the Mississippi River.
