Chicago Man Killed in Crash in Marion County

A Chicago man was killed in a crash in Marion County Friday afternoon.

Dead is 47-year-old Cedric D. Hicks, who was a passenger in a SUV that crashed on I-57, about a mile north of Salem at 1:53pm.

State police report the vehicle, driven by 55-year-old Ronnie Daniels of Chicago, was southbound when the vehicle swerved off the roadway to the left and then came back on and then off again to the right. The vehicle rolled over numerous times before coming to rest about 20 yards off the roadway, facing north.

Hicks was killed in the crash; Daniels and three other passengers, all from Chicago, were taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.

Daniels was cited for improper lane usage.
