Two-Vehicle Crash in Construction Zone at Effingham

Two vehicles collided in the interstate construction zone on Effingham's north side just after 8am Wednesday. 

State police say a semi driven by 45-year-old Keith Lopo of Black River, Michigan was traveling near the north tri-level while a pickup truck driven by 75-year-old Stephen Campion of Mojave Valley, Arizona attempted to merge into traffic and Campion's trailer struck the passenger's side of Lopo's semi.

Lopo was injured in the collision and was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Campion was cited for failure to yield when merging.
