New Fair Queen to be Crowned Tonight; Other Tuesday Fair Activities

(EFFINGHAM COUNTY FAIR QUEEN MELISSA DAVIS AT THE TIME OF HER CORONATION LAST AUGUST)

The 2015 Miss Effingham County Fair Queen will be crowned tonight.

13 girls are vying for the opportunity to succeed 2014 Queen Melissa Davis, daughter of Kelly and Loretta Davis of Dieterich. This year's contestants are Erin Goeckner, daughter of Brock and Susan Goeckner; Cathleen Bierman, daughter of Gerard and Carla Bierman; Elizabeth Brackney, daughter of Bill and Lisa Brackney; Sabrina Eggers, daughter of Mark and Kara Eggers; Rachel Tillman, daughter of Randy and Carol Tillman; Jodi Thoele, daughter of Tony and Susan Thoele; Brandy Fulk, daughter of Bobby and Cindy Fulk; Anna Wines, daughter of Jason and Kathy Wines; Kristina Neu, daughter of Fred and Phyllis Neu; Sarah Brackney, daughter of Bill and Lisa Brackney; Ashley Jamerson, daughter of Gregory and Julie Jamerson; Taylor Clark, daughter of Don and Carolyn Clark; and Bayleigh Stockman, daughter of Steve and Jeanlyn Stockman.

The queen pageant will again feature the Little Miss Pageant, with 34 girls taking part tonight. The reigning Miss Illinois County Fair, Sadie Gassman of Richland County, will also be a part of the pageant. Activities will begin at 7pm. Grandstand admission is $10/person.

Harness racing begins at 1pm. There are five heats of racing today. Hear the action on KJ Country 102.3. 

On the free stage tonight, enjoy country rock music from Quick and Bradley of Newton from 7-9:30pm.

Judging today at the fair: 7:45am--Class H Market Barrows/Breeding Stock...11am--Class H Dairy Goats

The midway will open at 6pm. It's a $20 armband night, or you can buy regular tickets.

The fair continues through Saturday at Altamont.
