A local man was killed over the weekend due to injuries received in a motorcycle crash in Indiana.

Curtis D. McKinney of Edgewood was fatally injured just after 6:15pm Saturday. McKinney's cycle and two other motorcycles were traveling on Interstate 69 at Noblesville, Indiana when the units came upon traffic starting to slow. Police say McKinney hit the brakes and lost control of his cycle. Both McKinney and his passenger, Bonnie McKinney of Edgewood, were both thrown from the cycle.

Curtis McKinney was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in Fishers, Indiana, where he later died of his injuries. Bonnie McKinney was airlifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital where she was treated, then released late Saturday evening.

The two other motorcyclists were able to avoid the crash.

I-69 was closed at the scene of the crash for more than three hours.
