Johnson Trial Delayed Til End of August

The trial of a local man on a sex charge has been delayed until the end of August.

33-year-old Mickey Johnson's trial was to begin on Monday on a charge of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. During a pre-trial hearing on Friday, attorneys for both sides agreed to continue the trial to August 31. Any delay is attributable to the defense. A pre-trial hearing is now scheduled for August 19.

Johnson is accused of a sex act involving a girl under age 13 in September 2011. The charge is a Class X felony, punishable by six to 30 years in prison if a conviction results.

Johnson remains in custody under $250,000 bond.
