City Police Investigating Series of Burglaries and Thefts

Effingham city police are investigating a series of burglaries and thefts. Several incidents occurred over the weekend.

A residential burglary occurred in the 800 block of South 4th Street between 3pm and 4:49pm Saturday. A decorative container and an undetermined amount of cash were taken. A screen, window and door all sustained damage during the incident.

Theft of an undetermined amount of cash from a cash drawer occurred at Ryan's Steakhouse at 1102 Avenue of Mid America about 9:10pm Saturday.

Theft of an undetermined amount of cash owned by Kenna Salyers of Effingham occurred at Rollin Hills Laundromat at 209 North Keller Drive at about 3pm Sunday.

Burglary from a motor vehicle owned by Glover Landscaping of Effingham occurred while the vehicle was parked in the 800 block of South 3rd Street between 8pm Wednesday and 11:57am Friday. Three gas cans were stolen, along with two leaf blowers, a weed eater, a tool belt and various tools and a flashlight. The items had a total value of more than $1,600.

A burglary occurred at Gospel Assembly Church at 509 South Merchant between 9:30pm Wednesday and 9:19am Sunday. A television was stolen, along two remotes, a glass jar, and an undetermined amount of cash. A screen was damaged during the incident.

Police are also investigating an incident of criminal damage to property. The incident ocurred at Nearly New Fashions at 802 South Willow between 4:30pm Friday and 9:27am Saturday. The main building as well as a storage shed sustained damage to the exterior from spray paint. Police are still determining the dollar value of the damage done.
