Clay County board members this week approved placing a POW/MIA chair on the lawn of the courthouse in Louisville.

The chairs are being placed by the Legion Riders, an organization dedicated to making sure those missing are not forgotten. They place the chairs to illustrate a seat not being taken by someone missing. Some are even showing up in athletic venues. A chair was recently approved for the Jasper County Courthouse lawn in Newton.

The Clay board approved seeking bids on a proposed expansion of the Flora Clinic for Clay County Hospital; discussed a request for a co-op agreement with the hospital for an Urgent Care Clinic but took no action; approved the appointment of Steve Lewis to the Clay County 911 Board; and approved transportation improvement agreements, including engineering work on a bridge replacement project carrying Sailor Springs Road over the Little Wabash River at the east edge of Louisville. Other projects will include culvert replacements on Deere Lane in Larkinsburg Township, on Athens Lane and Acts Road in Bible Grove Township, and on Niter Lane in Hoosier Township.
