With more than 30 vendors, multiple live performances, a silent auction and many other events, re-organizing an event as massive as Effingham County's Relay for Life would be a huge job for anyone, but that's exactly what the 2015 Relay committee was forced to do, at the last minute no less.

And it was perfect.

With the seemingly endless rains as of late, the grounds at Teutopolis Jr. High School (where Relay for Life is traditionally held) were far too wet to hold the event. We saw standing water in several areas of the grounds Friday night, and anyone who's got a yard to mow or crops in a field wasn't exactly surprised by the decision to move the event to the Jr. High's parking lot.

Relay's stage was set on the north end of the lot, facing south, with the vendor booths snaked around the parking spaces, leaving a large walkway for the crowd to move through. Scott Ealy (below, left), who MC'd Relay again this year, spoke highly of the Relay team's work in getting the event put together so well despite the hurdles.

Altogether, this year's Effingham County Relay for Life raised over $36,000, with more than $120,000 for the year's campaign.

At our booth, we were selling Culver's frozen custard. If you've been to Relay, you know food is a staple of the event, with tents serving items like grilled steak sandwiches, walking tacos, pizza and much more.

Below is video we shot of the Survivor Lap at Friday's event. Local videographer K.L. Cleeton's 2 Fast 4 U Productions was also at Relay, and told us they would have a highlight video of the event avaialble later.
