An Altamont man was injured in a crash along the Moccasin Road.

The crash happened just before 9pm Thursday, about three miles east of Moccasin. Effingham County sheriff's deputies report 24-year-old Gregory Sperry of Altamont was westbound when his vehicle ran off the roadway into the north ditch. The vehicle traveled 450 feet in the ditch and struck a culvert, then a utility pole, damaging a guy wire. The vehicle then struck a second culvert, became airborne and then came to rest.

Sperry was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment of his injuries. He was cited for DUI alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, and improper lane usage.
