Shooting Reported at Carlyle Lake

On June 28 at 11:49 p.m., a report came in that a subject located at the Carlyle Lake Patoka access area had a fire arm and was threatening to harm himself. Fayette County deputies and the Illinois State Police responded to the scene locating the subject's vehicle.

The subject was asked to exit his vehicle multiple times and did not respond. The officers on scene then heard a single gun shot. Upon investigating, the subject was found to have received a gunshot wound and EMS responded.

At 1:09 a.m., the Fayette County coroner was dispatched to the scene. At 1:54 a.m., Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen pronounced the subject dead and identified him as 38-year-old Marty Brandt of Sandoval.

The incident remains under investigation by the Fayette County coroner. Further information will be released at a later date.
