Jasper school board members Thursday took action on several personnel matters.

The Board agreed to recall to service an elementary teaching position, one educational support aide position, and two bus chaperone positions.

Board members accepted resignations of Randy Brooks and Dana Ruholl as school bus drivers, Brad Harris as assistant high school baseball coach, and Sarah Will as junior high assistant girls track coach. The Board also approved the retirements of Betty Yaw as a custodian and Marge Parr as a teacher's aide, and approved volunteer Chad Farley as a high school soccer coach.

The Board heard that Pre-K and Kindergarten screenings were held, with 118 preschool age children and 97 Kindergarten students screened. Board members also voted on handbook revisions dealing with updates in the bullying policy, four-minute passing periods between classes at the junior high and high school, cell phone usage and a switch to trimesters at the junior high school.

Information was shared on additional dual credit offerings within the vocational department, specifically welding as dual credit with Olney Central College.

Jasper board members approved property, casualty and liability insurance renewals for the coming school year; approved a resolution authorizing abatement of the Working Cash Fund to issue authority to abate up to $700,000 from Working Cash to the Education Fund, but tabled a vote authorizing the district to issue a line of credit with People's State Bank for the Education Fund until new counsel is chosen; and then approved Hodges, Loizzi, Eisenhamer, Rodick and Kohn as the district's legal counsel.

Board members also approved the 2015 Newton Power Station settlement agreement and amendments. The settlement relates to the property assessment on the power plant in previous years.
